Privacy notice

For the Tea Tin waitlist. Last updated 9 October 2026.

This covers the email address you give us on this website to hear when Tea Tin launches. It does not cover the Tea Tin app itself, which is not open yet and will have its own notice before it is.

Who we are

Tea Tin Ltd, registered in England and Wales with company number 17501939, at 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. We are the controller of your waitlist details and are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office. Questions about your data go to [email protected], and Harry Holder, the director, answers them.

What we keep

Your email address, the date and time you added it, whether you ticked the box offering to help test it early, and — if you chose to say — whether you are registered with Ofsted or working towards it. Nothing else: not your name, not your IP address, not which browser you used.

What we use it for

To email you when Tea Tin is ready to try, and possibly once or twice before that if there is something you can actually do, like test an early version. No newsletter, no adverts, and we never sell it or give it to anyone else to market to you.

We also use the date and time you joined to work out who the first 50 childminders on the list are, since they get a free year. If you are one of them, we will email you during that year to ask for feedback on the app.

If you said whether you are registered or working towards it, we use that to decide what to build first and what to show you first when you join. It changes nothing about your place on the list, and you can leave it blank.

If you ticked the box offering to test it early, we use that to know who to invite before launch. Ticking it commits you to nothing, and you can say no when we ask or tell us to untick it at any time. If you would rather we removed the tick than your whole address, say so and we will do that instead.

The legal basis is your consent, which you give by joining. You can withdraw it whenever you like and we will delete your address.

Who else handles it

All three act only on our instructions. All three are US companies, so your address may be reached from the United States; they are certified under the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which is the safeguard UK law recognises for that.

The page's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser asks Google for them and Google sees your IP address when it does. We do not receive or keep that.

How long we keep it

Until you ask us to remove it, or until twelve months after we email you that Tea Tin has launched, whichever comes first. If you are one of the first 50, we keep it until the end of your free year instead, so that we can ask for your feedback during it. If you sign up for Tea Tin itself, your account is covered by the app's own notice instead.

Your rights

You can ask to see what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, by emailing [email protected]. We will reply within a month, and usually within a day or two. There is no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We would like the chance to put it right first.
